Company Background

Axis' origins date back to 1994 when the company became a distributor of motion control equipment to service the New England marketplace.  The company has continued to expand using its motion control expertise to provide a complete offering of product solutions spanning from the operator interface, through the controls, amplifiers, motors, mechanics, and sensors.

In 1994, Axis New England was formed with authorization to service the six New England states.  The formation capitalized on the emerging trend in the industry of suppliers looking to replace their traditional distribution and representative companies with more technically focused and proficient reseller companies.   Three engineers based out of Medfield, MA serviced New England.  In 1996, we relocated to Woburn, Ma where expanded facilities could meet our growing needs.  By 1997 our New England technical presence had grown to seven degreed engineers.  In 1998 sales presence in Connecticut was added.  1999 was a busy year for Axis, as our facility doubled in size in Woburn and a sales engineer was established in Manchester, NH.  Our Woburn facility was again expanded in 2000 to accommodate two new additions to our application support group.

In 2001, Axis New York was formed to service the needs of the Upstate market.  Tim Thurley, formerly of Ross Technologies, joined Axis and launched our Rochester operations.  As of 2004, the upstate NY market is serviced by two sales and one application engineer.  For most of 2006, the New England operations were supported from 8,000 sq ft of leased space in Woburn and 2,500 sq ft of leased space in Rochester.

Axis reached a significant milestone in January 2007 with the opening of our newly constructed 20,000 square foot facility in Danvers, MA.  Come visit us to see firsthand the investment we are making in the motion control and industrial automation fields.  Significant portions of our expanded space are dedicated for training, demo, and application prototyping.  With over $250,000 of product demonstration equipment, Axis continues to apply and test unique solutions to today’s most demanding applications.  Today, as in recent years, Axis remains a top vendor for many of our product lines.

As an organization, Axis continues to embrace new technology.  We feel that our continuous push up the technology ladder has provided us a distinct competitive advantage.  Axis links our customers with the state of the art in automation control – an invaluable resource in a trade driven by information.  We strive to maintain extensive networks throughout the automation industry.  Our engineers leverage this intellectual infrastructure to deliver dependable, far-sighted, and forward compatible solutions.  Our engineering and application focus has allowed Axis to emerge as the leading provider of motion control systems in the Northeast.

Today our staff includes fifteen engineers and five lab technicians and assemblers.  Our technical staff is supported internally by five account managers, as well as accounting, reception, and shipping receiving.
